There are four options for visitors without a military I.D. or CAC to enter Fort Myer to attend meetings of the Civil War Round Table of the District of Columbia (CWRTDC), described below.  Options 1 through 3 are recommended for persons (such as speakers or their guests) who plan to come to a limited number of meetings. Options 1 and 4 are recommended for persons who plan to attend meetings regularly, as those options will expedite your entry, usually without the requirement for a vehicle inspection.

OPTION 1:  Enter any open gate with a military I.D.  All drivers using this option must also have a valid driver’s license. If you have a passenger who does not have a military I.D., that person must separately have one of the visitor passes described below and you should enter via the Hatfield Gate.

OPTION 2:  Enter through the Hatfield Gate (directions provided below) with a temporary visitor pass received via email.  Obtain a temporary visitor pass via email by registering online at https://pass.aie.army.mil/jbmhh.  Select the option "APPLY FOR VISITOR PASS" and enter the requested information. You must register at least four (4) business days before the event.  If the online process is not working, use Option 3 below.  All drivers using this option must also have a valid driver’s license. Please note that each passenger in the vehicle (18 years or older) must complete a copy of the requested form.  All passengers (18 years or older) must also have a valid driver’s license, state issued I.D., or U.S. Passport as form of identification.

OPTION 3:  Enter through the Hatfield Gate to obtain a “One-Day Visitor Pass.  All drivers using this option must have a valid driver’s license. All passengers must also have a valid driver’s license, state issued I.D., or U.S. Passport as form of identification. Please note that the driver and each passenger (18 years or older) in the vehicle must complete an "Access Request" form.  We recommend that you download, print and complete the form in advance of your arrival (if convenient) to save you time at the gate.  The form is available at https://home.army.mil/jbmhh/application/files/2316/7509/8531/JBM-HH_Form_190-16x.pdf  On page 1, complete Items 1 through 13 (except skip Items 6c, 10a-d). On page 2, complete Items 1 through 3.

OPTION 4:  Enter through the Hatfield Gate with a Valid “One-Year Visitor Pass.

To obtain a new or renewed One-Year Visitor Pass, follow these steps:

a.    Confirm with Steve Jaren (at steve.jaren@gmail.com) that you are on the list of CWRTDC members provided to Fort Myer.

b.    Enter via the Hatfield Gate and ask to be directed to the Visitor Access Office, which is near the Hatfield Gate. Be sure to have a valid driver's license or state issued I.D.  Important note:  To obtain or renew a One Year Visitor Pass, you must visit the base within the hours specified below:

Monday through Friday:              6 am - 5 pm
Saturday:                                      10 am - 3 pm
Sunday and Federal Holidays:   Closed

If you are unable to arrive at least 30 minutes before the Visitor Access Office closes, you may still enter Fort Myer, but will need to use Option 3 above.

c.    Advise the Visitor Access Office personnel that you are listed on the CWRTDC membership roster, entitled, “NonMilitary Members of the Civil War Round Table of the District of Columbia,” and you are there to obtain a One-Year Visitor Pass. IMPORTANT: Please note that this option has been made available to the CWRTDC as a special accommodation/arrangement, and there is no obligation on the part of Fort Myer to issue One-Year Visitor Passes.  Therefore, please be courteous and patient with the Fort Myer personnel who may need to confirm the process before issuing such passes.  Moreover, even given the accommodation, this option is subject to change depending on the security level at the base.

d.   Complete a pre-printed form provided by Visitor Access Office personnel; it is similar to the form described in Option 3, but it will include additional “sponsor” information.  In Item 13 (Justification for Pass), write: “Attend Monthly CWRTDC meetings.”
